Meet the Jackal

Jack Taylor and his mom Lauren came to visit us last week. He's a great kid as you can see. He looks a lot like his daddy, especially when he squints. Jack's coming to Bosnia with us and boy is Simeon excited. We had such a great time during their visit. We went to a pub and heard live Irish music, visited a coffe shop built around a real roaster, sang a lot of songs, cried and told stories about Nathan (Jack's dad), and drove through one of Chicago's worst blizzards in a decade for 2 hours to get Ethiopian food. Oh yeah, and did I mention that there are now 4 Mezger/Taylor boys, soon to be 5? Aunt Mandi is having another boy! We'd better live in a community together to keep the tradition going.
Relevant film for today
Sorry, but yesterday's vote to (1) stop the troop surge and (2) begin the cutting of funding for troops on the ground makes me react very poorly toward those leading our country, and I'm not talking about George Bush. I just watched Russ Feingold interviewed on that early morning tv tabloid called Good Morning America and can hardly contain my shame in this country. He stated "this is clearly George Bush's war...those of us democrats who voted in favor of the war now realize that we shouldn't have..." Well, woulda coulda shoulda Russ Feingold! You can't just change your mind right now without finishing the job, which, by the way, IS BEING DONE, it's just that our media doesn't want to show that it is. "Ok, thank you Sen. Feingold...and now onto our real agenda, Anna Nicole Smith..."
Anyway, what I wanted to recommend for anybody that's interested, is the film "MacArthur" with Gregory Peck. Very few people supported his commitment to finishing the job in the Philippines and once he finally gained the support, the whole tide of the war changed. Check it out, I think it's very relevant for today.
"Bearss, 52...Coltss, nuttin"

That's Ditka's moustache airbrushed in by the way.
